Alliance for Safety and Justice

Branding, graphic design and illustration work through a social justice lens for Alliance for Safety and Justice (ASJ).

ASJ is a multi-state organization that aims to replace over-incarceration with more effective public safety solutions rooted in crime prevention, community health, rehabilitation and support for crime victims.

We were tasked with:
  • Campaign strategy & development for Prop 25, California National Victims,  HB3653 and ASJ Voter Guide.
  • Agenda for Annual Briefing for Philanthropy.
  • Logo “I am/We are Survivors”.
  • Social media for Survivors Speak and Giving Tuesday.

Social Justice Design

  • By asking questions relevant to the brand’s mission and values, we created visuals that tackled topics such as crime survivors and prisons in ways which were empowering to their target audiences.
  • Our illustrations told powerful stories rather than rely on tropes and stereotypes.

HB3653

Carousel illustrations for HB3653 bill.

HB3653 carousel graphics on HB3653 bill. Slide 1 reads: "HB3653: a path to safety for Illinois; increases support for crime victims; ends wealth-based bail; reforms failed & wasteful policies; increases accountability." There's an illustration of a cityscape in the background with a road. In the road there's a person staring into it with the backs to the view and holding a skateboard; there's a person in a wheelchair; there's a person running holding their backpack; there's a person walking waving their hand. Slide 2 reads: "HB5635 is the outcome of years of hard work by crime of survivors & advocates." There's a closeup of the same illustration with the person on a wheelchair and the person running with a backpack. Slide 3 reads "we thank the Illinois legislative black caucus for supporting crime survivors. We call on governor Pritzker to make HB3653 law.
