Stanford Social Innovation Review Global Illustrations

I partnered with Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR) to create a series of 8 global illustrations, each tackling different local and global social matters.

I was tasked with:

Picking a hand-feel aesthetic that was inspired creativity, not perfectionism. I picked hand markers with jagged edges.
Honoring each country, their vision, their culture and symbolisms.
Creating illustrations with bold and vibrant colors.
Depicting the clients’ article and translating it into visuals.

SOCIAL JUSTICE DESIGN

I applied a racial and social justice lens to create illustrations that depict people of color in powerful and vibrant ways.
I listened to the client’s concerns and made sure that every choice I made in the illustrations reflected the needs of the people the client serves. From the illustrative style, to culturally competent representation, we ended up with a project I’m so proud of.
