THE BEAT IN BETWEEN

The Beat in Between is the maker side of The Dream Creative.

The Beat in Between is a queer/trans/nonbinary biracial Middle Eastern artist making all things queer and radical. They were born and raised in Brazil and immigrated to the US in the early 2000’s.

They strive to work with sustainable products, all plant-based and from small businesses. They hope to spark conversations with their creations and ultimately bring awareness and action to so many of the systemic issues polluting our world.

THE WALLETS

The Beat in Between only uses sustainable and all plant-based materials.

MAGICAL PINEAPPLE LEATHER

Piñatex is an innovative natural material made from pineapple leaves, a byproduct of the fruit harvest. Tough and durable, it is commonly used as an eco-friendly material for vegan leather by fashion artists who want to avoid petroleum-based products.

MAGICAL CORK

Cork leather is made from the bark of cork oaks. Cork trees must be at least 25 years old before the bark can be harvested and even then, the harvest can only take place once every 9 years. When done by an expert, harvesting the cork from a cork oak does not harm the tree, on the contrary, the removal of sections of the bark stimulates regeneration which extends the life of a tree. It is water resistant, flame resistant and hypoallergenic.

THE SHIRTS

The Beat in Between only works with sustainable clothing from Bella Canvas or Gildian.

NO SWEAT SHOPS, USA MADE & CONSCIOUS

Bella Canvas is known for being consciously produced and being USA made.

WATER REDUCTION

By using newer, more efficient dye machines, Bella Canvas uses 7x less water than the average for clothing manufacturers, saving 24 million gallons a week. Any water we do use goes through a filtration system that allows it to be recycled.

ENERGY REDUCTION

They use motion-sensor LED lighting and skylights throughout each building, and electric car charging stations to encourage employees to go green.

VIRTUALLY ZERO WASTE

Their manufacturing facilities and LA Headquarters produce almost no landfill because we recycle pretty much everything that can’t be turned into a tee. They’ve optimized the cutting to reduce plastic use, and excess fabric is recycled into a number of things like baby bibs or stuffing for upholstery. Let nothing go to waste!

MADE FROM START TO FINISH

They source the cotton, spin the yarn, knit, dye, and cut the fabric, and sew the clothes. From start to finish, they make apparel with respect for resources, both human and natural. This requires a keen eye on every part of the supply chain, which they can do because they own the vast majority of it. Every water source, every unit of energy, every ergonomic workstation, they hold themselves accountable for, paying as much attention to what goes into the work as what comes out of it.

AIMING HIGHER

They hold themselves to the highest standards with the full power of our global team. Whether ethical, social, or environmental, upholding strict, future-forward standards enables them to make apparel better with respect to how they make it, who they make it with, and what they use to make it. It’s simply part of doing business with them.

THE COASTERS

SMALL FAMILY BUSINESS

The Beat in Between only buys wood from small family-owned/veterans businesses.
